Biography

Adele Strauss M.Ac., L.Ac. graduated in 1993 with a Masters Degree in Chinese and Japanese Acupuncture from the New England School of Acupuncture and is licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Medicine and certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

She has a background in Shiatsu (Japanese acupressure massage), and psychotherapy.  Over years of practice she has developed her own style of deep bodywork therapy.

Adele has devoted her life to the study and practice of Chinese Medicine, as well as to the studies of the eastern philosophies and world view, out of which Chinese Medicine developed.

In the interest of practicing preventative medicine, she recommends an individual diet for each person, based on the diagnosis by pulse and tongue.  Incorrect diet is often the primary factor in the cause of many conditions, and astute adjustment of diet is often responsible for resolution of the condition.     She also focuses on emotional causes of disease, and explores, with her clients, how one’s thinking can affect one’s health, both negatively and positively.

She recommends regular exercise, Yoga or Tai Qi, and the practice of meditation daily.

Since 1990 Adele has maintained and enjoyed a busy and flourishing practice,  first in shiatsu, and since 1993 in Acupuncture, bodywork therapy and herbal medicine consultation. She recommends herbs from American herbal pharmacies with the strictest quality control and the highest standards of purity.

There are many different ways of practicing Acupuncture.  Adele specializes in Classical Acupuncture, which is distinctively different from the modern practice, known as TCM.

Please refer to the website’s page on Classical Acupuncture to learn about the difference between the styles.

For over 20 years, her experience with both Classical Chinese Medicine and  Japanese Acupuncture has allowed her to develop a unique system of diagnosis.

Adele divides her time between her busy and flourishing private practice in Brighton;  the Wellness and Integrative Medicine Center, at the North Shore Medical Center, in Salem;  and the Lane Center in Hingham.

Working in a field as vast and ancient as Chinese Medicine, Adele is actively and passionately involved in ongoing studies and writing projects.
